Porcelain Throughout the Bathroom

One Porcelain Look Across Shower, Floors & Walls

01 · Shower Walls

Porcelain Shower Walls & Niches

Full-height porcelain panels or large-format tiles in your shower give you a smooth, low-grout look that feels like a custom spa instead of a basic insert.

02 · Large-Format Tile

2' × 4' & 4' × 4' Porcelain Tile

Large-format tile lets us carry the same material onto floors and shower walls, using 2' × 4' or 4' × 4' pieces for a clean, high-end look with fewer grout joints.

03 · Wall Cladding

Porcelain Wall Cladding & Splashes

Use porcelain as a feature wall behind a tub, around windows, or as a vanity splash and ledge to protect the walls while keeping everything visually tied together.

One material, one installer, one design plan. We’ll help you decide where porcelain makes the most sense in your bathroom and how to keep it looking great for years.

Beyond the Shower

Porcelain for the Entire Bathroom

Large-format porcelain isn’t just for shower walls. We use the same durable, marble-look material for floors, vanities, wall cladding, and full wet rooms so your whole bathroom feels like one connected, spa-quality design.

Floor-to-ceiling porcelain on the vanity wall or behind a freestanding tub turns a plain bathroom into a feature space. We can run the veining vertically, book-match panels, or wrap corners so it looks like one continuous slab instead of separate tiles.
Porcelain’s non-porous surface is ideal for full shower enclosures and steam-rated rooms with tall glass doors. We can bring the material across ceilings, benches, and knee walls so steam and moisture aren’t fighting grout joints and soft, absorbent surfaces every day.
Using larger porcelain pieces on the floor means fewer grout lines under bare feet and mop heads. We choose slip-resistant finishes and layouts that visually stretch the room, pairing them with radiant heat where appropriate for a warm, hotel-style feel.
Porcelain slabs can be used as vanity tops, waterfall ends, or even full cladding on floating vanities. You get a durable, stain-resistant surface that ties perfectly into your shower walls and backsplash for a custom, built-in look.
We use porcelain for shower benches, window sills, tub decks, and shampoo ledges so all the “touch points” in the room match. These details help stop water from sitting on wood or drywall edges and make the room feel like one continuous stone design.

What is Porcelain?

Large-Format Porcelain for Modern Showers

Porcelain shower walls use high-density porcelain slabs or 2' × 4' large-format tiles instead of small pieces and heavy grout lines. Porcelain material is fired at extremely high temperatures, creating a non-porous, scratch-resistant, stain-resistant surface that’s ideal for constant water, steam, and daily use in busy bathrooms.

How large-format porcelain changes the shower
Large-format slabs and 2' × 4' tiles cover more area with each piece, so you get a smooth, continuous look with far fewer grout joints than a traditional tile shower. Visually it feels like a spa or hotel shower, and smaller bathrooms feel more open because there are fewer lines breaking up the walls.
Cleaning & everyday maintenance
Porcelain is non-porous, so it doesn’t absorb water, soap, or color the way natural stone can. Fewer grout lines mean fewer places for mildew to grab on, and most day-to-day cleaning is just a quick wipe-down with mild cleaner instead of deep scrubbing and re-sealing grout.
Durability in high-use and wet areas
Because porcelain is fired so dense and hard, it stands up to daily use, kids, guests, and high-moisture environments without softening or wearing down. It’s extremely resistant to scratches, staining, and water absorption, which helps protect the walls behind your shower for the long term.
Design options & marble-look finishes
Modern porcelain manufacturing can recreate marble, travertine, concrete and many exotic stones with incredible realism — plus solid neutrals, bold veining, and different textures like matte, polished, and soft-touch finishes. That lets us match almost any bathroom style, from clean modern to warm classic luxury.
Where porcelain showers work best
Large-format porcelain is perfect for primary baths, guest baths, walk-in showers, and full wet-room layouts where you want a high-end, low-maintenance finish. It’s also a great upgrade for aging-in-place or accessibility projects because smoother, less textured walls are easier to keep clean around grab bars, seats, and niches.

Systems Available: Full installs by Armstrong, or tilers, designers, & builders are welcome to purchase individual full slabs.

Bottom line: porcelain gives you the look of slab stone and high-end tile with less grout, easier cleaning, and a surface that’s designed for constant water and steam in modern showers.

Porcelain Showers

Why Choose a Large-Format Tile or Porcelain Shower?

If you like the look of marble and stone but want something easier to live with every day, a large-format porcelain shower is a great fit. These systems use dense, non-porous panels and 2' × 4' tiles to create a smooth, modern shower with fewer grout lines and excellent long-term durability.

Large-format porcelain panels and tiles cover more of the wall with each piece, so there are fewer grout joints to scrub, re-seal, or re-caulk. Most of your cleaning is just a wipe-down instead of heavy scrubbing in every seam, crevasse, and corner.

Porcelain is fired at extremely high temperatures, making it dense and non-porous. It doesn’t absorb water or soap the way natural stone can, so it resists staining, swelling, and mildew ideal for daily showers, steam rooms, and busy households.

Modern porcelain manufacturing can recreate marble veining, natural stone, and concrete textures with incredible detail. You get the high-end look of stone, but with a surface that doesn’t require special sealers or ongoing stone maintenance.

Porcelain stands up to kids, guests, and daily showers without softening or wearing down. It is extremely resistant to scratches and color fading, which helps protect the walls and your investment over time.

Large format tile and porcelain works in sleek modern bathrooms, soft spa-inspired spaces, and more classic designs. From bright white marble looks to warm stone tones, we can match your vanity, flooring, and fixtures so everything feels intentional.

Porcelain walls can be combined with low-step or barrier-free shower bases to create an accessible, aging-in-place friendly shower. This is especially helpful when you want both a designer look and a safer, easier entry.

Many porcelain projects start as a replacement for an old fiberglass insert or builder-grade tile surround. We remove the old materials, address any hidden water issues, and rebuild the shower with modern waterproofing and large-format tile or porcelain.

We handle the full system: framing, waterproofing, porcelain walls, niches, benches, and glass not just hanging a few panels. That means your porcelain shower is built to look good and perform well as one complete package.

Porcelain Shower Upgrades

Luxury Accessories, Trim & Shower Details

Finish your porcelain shower with clean metal edges, curated shelving, and upgraded fixtures that match the look and performance of a true high-end spa.

Porcelain Edge Trim (¼" Metal Profiles)
After porcelain slabs or large format tiles are cut, the edges can be sharp or jagged. We install premium metal edge trim to frame the shower and hide those cuts, leaving a smooth, finished line instead of a raw porcelain edge.
Available in matte black, brushed nickel, chrome, warm gold, and graphite finishes.

Recommended Shelving Options
We recommend shelf styles that work best with porcelain shower walls:
  • Glass corner shelves – clean and light.
  • Metal corner shelves – slim, modern, and finish-matched.
  • Stone Resin shelves – ideal when paired with a Stone Resin base.
Waterproof warranty note: full porcelain niches look great, but we do not warranty niches built entirely from cut porcelain panels due to extra seams and grout.
