Porcelain Showers

Porcelain showers are quickly becoming a very popular choice for high-end showers. Porcelain is very durable, non-porous (waterproof), and easy to clean. One of the main reasons porcelain showers are gaining popularity is the full wall slabs that reach from floor to ceiling with 0 or 1 seam (depending on size). This large size allows you to have no grout to clean, steam, and maintain. Porcelain technology has rapidly increased in the past few years, and the porcelain slabs are now so realistic that they mimic natural stone, have original patterns, colors, and some are breathtaking.

Tile Shower

A tile shower has been the top choice for showers for decades, however that has officially changed. Most tile easily chips, and is cold to stand on. Yes, heating the floor is an option but that is very expensive. Bonding the tile to the floor and walls correctly takes someone with years of experience, and the prices of high-end mortar keep climbing. Also, tile is notorious for cracking, because most floors have too much flex or deflection, and the extreme temperature changes from the hot and cold water cause expansion and shrinkage. Just when you thought there’s nothing else to go wrong, you have grout. Most grouts are porous and hold on to the proteins in the conditioner, and start to grow bacteria. Grout chips out, crumbles, streaks, and needs to be sealed. Another issue is caulk – builders will just caulk the inside corners of the shower to help it not crack, and while this can be a short-term solution, caulk soon discolors, gets slimy, and peels off. These are just some of the reasons homeowners are choosing not to use tile in their showers. Yes, we still design, build, and Install tile showers, but to make them right and use all the correct materials, so the shower will last for years to come, it can be very expensive. Most of the time it’s not worth the value, especially with technology introducing us to new shower materials and methods.

Stone Resin Showers

Our most popular shower material is Stone Resin, which comes in a high gloss finish, with over 50 colors to choose from. Each wall is its own panel or slab. Panels are custom made to order and can be made up to 10 feet wide. This means you can go from the floor to the ceiling with just one piece of stone resin. No need for individual tiles or grout! The shower base is also only one piece; the base comes pre-sloped and is compliant with ADA non-slip regulations. Shelves are made to recess in the wall or be put in the corner of the shower. Stone resin showers are fully customizable for shower shape, wall heights, and even drain location, quickly becoming the first choice for homeowners!
